Geneva grew up doing yoga, and the practice has always been a comfortable space to which she can return for self-exploration. After completing her 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2019, she quickly discovered that teaching private lessons allowed her to connect with others through her passion for human movement. In the one-on-one setting, she developed her ability to offer modifications and adjustments specific to the body in front of her. This environment also became a space where she could begin to translate more therapeutic techniques from her Bachelor's degree in kinesiology, and later, her clinical experience studying to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Geneva's movement repertoire is also shaped by her personal interests in CrossFit and strength training, which informs her understanding of functional movement, load management, and performance.
The pillar of Geneva’s work is a student-centered approach that instills a joy for all types of movement, and cultivates autonomy within one’s body. Her physical therapy training emphasizes manual techniques, a keen eye for identifying the root cause of movement limitations, and a growing interest in pelvic floor rehabilitation—elements she continues to weave into her approach. Her lessons bring a blend of breath, introspection, whole-body movement, and anatomy that will inform your understanding of the physical properties of each exercise–but most importantly, empower you to recognize and create a personal relationship to your unique movement practice.
Geneva is currently a Student Doctor of Physical Therapy at Marymount University and Arlington, VA. She continues to teach private yoga/strength lessons to students at diverse points along the experience and mobility spectrums.
